Connecting to one’s breath is one of the simplest ways to come into connection with the present moment and to know how one is actually feeling. Breath gives us the gift to alter our nervous system state, to regulate or re-energise and to start to know and recognise our own body cues. Henny’s experience as a breathwork coach and gentle guide, showing you a range of different techniques can assist greatly with everyday issues like stress, anxiety and learning how to change gear.

The diaphragm is our primary respiratory muscle. It is the large dome-shaped muscle just under our rib cage that moves up and down as the body breathes in and out. Yet for many people, the diaphragm is weak or stiff, which can cause difficulty breathing, sleeping, and fatigue. This can cause us to breathe dysfunctionally. Without being aware, we might hold our breath, or shallow breathe, or breathe in our throats, or reverse breathe. The body may suddenly gasp, sigh or yawn to rebalance. Working with gentle diaphragmatic techniques is one of the simplest ways to encourage functional, regulated breathing and bring balance to our bodies and nervous system responses.
