Mindfulness practices, mantra, chanting, pranayam, breath focus, body scans, visualisation, journeying, prayer, and stillness practices are all forms of meditation found around the world in different societies and cultures. However you meditate, a regular meditation practice can change your state, awareness and ability to create space between event or stimulus and response.
Henny is an experienced meditation teacher, working with groups on a weekly basis, she guides meditators through gentle loving awareness practices, body and energy attunement and on visual and heart journeys to drop into different states.
Consistent meditation practice can allow our awareness to increase and the regular process of dropping into quieter states can assist us in our present moment awareness and give us time to respond rather than react to triggers. Over time meditation can change how our brains function and how we experience and live in our world.

As we increase the regularity of our meditation practice, we create new neural pathways, changing our experience and the lens through which we see our world. A regular meditation practice has been shown to change the frequency of brain waves and 90% of the time when we close our eyes, we drop down from our active Beta state into Alpha, which is a change of gear and can allow a quieter process. If we enter a deep meditative state, we go into the much slower Theta brainwaves. A Theta state can promote learning and memories to be processed, which we do not have access to in our more normal Beta state in the same way. Theta brain states can be where our stuff is sorted, our sub and unconscious processes, which we are not aware of in our normal conscious state. Meditation can be both a great self-help tool and really beneficial when coupled with other therapeutic modalities, assisting in processing and integrating change.
